Jennifer Ashley’s Scandal Above Stairs is narrated by Kat Holloway, a Victorian cook. She is an intelligent and observant woman, who provides a prospective on Victorian society I have not often read.

I enjoyed this book more then the first installment, as I already had a connection to the characters. I found this to be a very satisfying start to new cozy mystery series.

There is a slow burn romance element between Kat, the protagonist cook/amateur investigator and Daniel, a sort of mysterious type who is comfortable above and below stairs, but I didn’t find the romance to.
